Incident: A man approaches a student wearing a hijab and threatens to set her on fire if she doesn’t remove it.

Response: Campus police treat it as a hate crime. The following Monday 3oo students show up to form a protective circle around Muslim students performing evening prayers. The president of the university, Mark Schlissel, was present at a second student rally in support of threatened groups. This in turn led to a petition from conservative students claiming the president was making them feel bad for voting for Trump.
